Thailand extends state of emergency in violence-prone southernmost provinces
The three southernmost provinces in Thailand (Yala, Narathiwat and Pattani) are extremely dangerous because of constant insurgency. the Thai government has decided to extend a current law that allows security forces in those dangerous areas special powers of arrest and detention. Even though the violence in the southern provinces has subsided as of late, the government still wants to monitor the situation.
