Muted Buzz at Hong Kong Apple Store

Last week hundreds of people from China and even neighboring countries lined up outside the Hong Kong Apple store to take a look at and buy the new ipad. The crowd got so big that police were called in to keep everything in order. Although many people came to the store, the only people that were able to buy the new ipad were the ones that pre-ordered the device through the apples stores ireserve. On Friday, the ireserve website was down, reporting "heavy traffic volume."
I think there should be a better way to distribute apple products. I've waited in these lines before and it's just not fun. I know that some people like the excitement of it but I feel like apple should consider a better supply chain method or possibly shipping their products to meet their demands.
