Thailand wants to take action to prevent flooding as the rainy season approaches in May. Different proposals have been set forth. A new water management organization has been created by the government. There has been talk about putting up walls along the Chao Phraya river, but the problem with this is that the walls may not be done in time for the rainy season. Something that has been said to start soon is dredging canals in Bangkok. It is interesting to know what has happened.

I think Thailand takes the term 'rainy season' to a whole new level! I know Thailand is beautiful and all, but I sort of lump the low-lying/flood-prone areas of Thailand together with New Orleans. If you merely look at the elevation of the land, reason screams that this is just not a smart place to set up shop...
