In the past decade Cambodia tried to make the tallest skyscraper in Asia but the project was shut down because of the financial crisis of 2008 and 2009. Since then, Cambodia's gdp has grown 6% and the country has been labeled by the world bank as a possible hot spot for investment in the next few years. Now, several projects are being worked on, including the Vattanac Capital Tower, a 38-story, $170 million office building.
The new buildings are supposed to represent the country's growth in the past years and their revival after years of political chaos and civil war. This seems like a large and ambitious project for Cambodia but if it is successful it could help the country become an economic power in Asia.

This is really interesting because I've always viewed Cambodia as a very clear third-world country. A 6% increase in GDP is significant, as are the projects that the country is trying ti undertake. Now, with Cambodia's rising potential and labor becoming more expensive in China, perhaps companies will begin investing in Cambodia, enabling it to grow even faster.
