This article talked about Taiwan having one of the slowest internet infrastructure's in the region. They currently do not even have access to 100 mbps in many parts of the country. It is their goal to have 100 mbps broadband internet access available to 80% of Taiwanese households by 2015. (100 mbps is what BYU currently has as its "basic" service across campus - and you thought that was slow!). I found this article interesting because, #1) I currently work as a Network Infrastructure Technician here at BYU's Office of Information Technology. (I install fiber-optic and Cat-6 networks...just what Taiwan needs!) and #2) We are going to Taiwan, and many of us might want to send an email or two home while we are there! (I wonder if slow speeds or connectivity issues will hinder us at all?)

This is interesting because I can see it greatly affecting the development of Taiwan. Considering I am constantly using the internet and using it to learn and communicate, I can't imagine how bad internet would affect the country as a whole.
