Toyota and Fuji Heavy Industries have launched a new two-door sports coupe, called the 86. This partnership is beneficial to both companies and shows the expansion of top automakers in Japan. However, Fuji Heavy has encountered difficulties in trying to establish a joint venture in China. The Chinese government only allows two joint ventures per foreign company, and since Toyota has partnered with Fuji, difficulties have ensued.
This article was an interesting find because it shows the relationship between some of the Asian countries we will be visiting on our study abroad. I also enjoyed reading about the different strategic partnerships that companies, like Toyota, make to further their brand and their reach.

It is interesting to read about this since we'll be visiting Mazda in Japan and I'm sure, other companies that have created similar partnerships. It is also always interesting for me to here about China's policies in regard to business operations withing its borders. Sometimes I really feel that they need to update their economic and foreign policy.
ReplyDeleteI also think that it is interesting to see how different companies work together to over come difficulties. It makes me realize just how complex the business world really is.
ReplyDeleteHopefully Toyota can recover its business with this action. I agree, it's interesting to see how competitors sometimes help each other.
