March 11, One Year On: Beached Ship--Monument or Scar?

This article talks about a 330 ton and 200 feet boat, called the Kyotokumaru.  During the tsunami that took place almost a year ago this boat ended up over a half of a mile from shore in Kesennuma, Japan.  There is debate to whether or not this boat will be removed or kept in it's place.  I think this article is interesting, because this is not something that happens everyday.

  1. I think this is interesting because if they keep the ship, this could potentially be beneficial to the economy. They could use the ship as a monument or tourist site in the future, which could generate revenue...
