Cambodia has had a recent increase in the textile
industry. This has occurred as
workers in Cambodia are willing to work for lower wages then workers in China.
Cambodia is displaying many developmental characteristics that china did twenty
years ago. They are expecting that Cambodian industry will continue to develop
at a rapid pace. This is occurring as Chinese workers are expecting higher
wages than workers in Cambodia, but it is expected that higher quality textiles
will continue to be produced in China.
This happens because China has better networking. Additionally, Cambodia has a slower
shipping process and they have to import equipment used in textile production. However, it is expected that Cambodia’s
textile industry will continue to develop. This interested me because I was interested in the patterns
of production. Just like lower
wage jobs began to decrease in the United States as China’s industry expanded,
we see a similar pattern occurring in Cambodia and China. It is also interesting
to see signs of China becoming a more developed country.

It will be interesting to see what happens in other Asian countries in the next 10-20 years as China becomes more developed and sophisticated. It is almost as if there are more mini-China's starting to come out. Very interesting article.
