China's Wages are on the Rise

This article talks about how China is struggling keeping its cheap labor force. More and more workers, especially the younger part of the work force, are refusing to work for low paying jobs which forces business owners to raise the wages of their workers. This is causing Chinese businesses to have to raise wages by 10-30% and they are still short hundreds of thousands of workers. This means that Chinese goods could become more expensive for other countries to buy. The United States should be aware of this because it could result in Chinese goods becoming too expensive for the U.S. to buy so we will have to start to shift manufacturing jobs to be by companies inside the states.

  1. I'm happy that people in China are refusing to accept such low paying jobs. People can't end labor exploitation until they are willing to stand up for themselves. Unfortunately, the pay increases are limiting the number of jobs. It makes me sad that there is such a labor shortage in China. I feel so blessed to live in the United States and gain and education knowing that I have the opportunity to enter the work force.

  2. It sounds like a similar phase that the united states went through when some of the manufacturing jobs were very long hours, tedious work, and very low paying. Hopefully they will be able to make changes so they can have a better work environment.
